Outside of Indy, Texas is the fastest track the series travels to each year; hopefully, the information gleaned from today’s test will help them refine the aero package to be used when the series races there in June.

MotorSportsTalk

Eight drivers – including three rookies prepping for this year’s Indianapolis 500 – took to Texas Motor Speedway on Wednesday to acclimate themselves with the new aero package to the track and gain some valuable oval laps of testing.

A year ago (right), Texas ran a modified wing package and with reduced downforce, produced one of the most exciting races of the season. Now, the wing package for Texas is more in line with what was featured at Indianapolis and Fontana, IndyCar’s two longest ovals (2.5 and 2.0 miles).

“It’s a lot different (from a stock car to drive around TMS),” Team Penske’s AJ Allmendinger told IndyCar.com, after his latest IndyCar test after shifting back from NASCAR. “A little track knowledge (helps), and all these mile-and-a-half tracks a little different – they have their own character – so it’s good to know but it’s still different.”

Besides Allmendinger, full…

To borrow Joseph Welch’s immortal words…”Have you no sense of decency, Representative King? At long last, have you no sense of decency, sir?”

It’s one thing to attack the president over policy, its’ another to aim personal attacks towards him but to attack President Obama’s two daughters is the act of a coward, which is precisely what Iowa Rep. Steve King is. He is, quite simply, a coward.

The Fifth Column

Why are some GOP Congressmen and Senators such cowards?

Think Progress

This week, Breitbart News broke a long-standing security protocol and published a story detailing the precise location where President Obama’s daughters are vacationing this week. On Wednesday, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) used the report to attack the First Daughters for taking a vacation.

King’s comments came during an appearance on Mickelson in the Morning, an Iowa-based radio show. A caller, Carla, brought up sequestration and proceeded to criticize the Michelle Obama and her daughters for taking a vacation in the Bahamas. King agreed — “Carla, you’re on point and on the mark all the way through” — before criticizing them for also taking a vacation last year in Mexico. “That was at our expense, too,” King bemoaned.

CALLER: When I see the First Lady and the beautiful girls going off to the Bahamas waving goodbye to us, it’s really hard to…

Is DOMA Down For The Count?   Leave a comment

If SCOTUSBlog’s analysis of today’s second set of hearings concerning marriage equality before the High Court are any indication, it probably is down for the count. For what it’s worth, this is an easier call to make than over Prop 8 in that, in my honest opinion, DOMA is an unconstitutional violation of the Constitution’s Full Faith & Credit clause and should’ve never seen the light of day back in the 1990’s, nonetheless gotten signed by Bill Clinton.

Hopefully the Court, even with some of the geniuses who are currently sitting on the bench, will throw DOMA into the ashheap of history.

What To Expect From The Nine Supremes On Marriage Equality   Leave a comment

Earlier today, I wrote about the Supreme Court arguments over the issue of marriage equalitynow, we should look at how the justices could potentially rule on the issue at hand.

Thus, the likely(though not certain) breakdown based on today’s arguments looks to be as follows….

  • Pro Marriage Equality: Breyer, Ginsberg, Sotomayor, Kagan
  • Anti Marriage Equality: Scalia, Alito
  • Unknown, leaning Pro: Roberts
  • Unknown, leaning Anti: Kennedy
  • Unknown either way: Thomas
  • Likely Decision Based On The Above: anywhere from 5-4 to 7-2 in support of marriage equality
