Interesting Times In Texas…   Leave a comment

Interesting article over at Daily Kos about the ever-changing face of Texas and how the state, if current demographic projections continue as they are at present, will eventually become first a swing state and then a Democratic state. For what it’s worth, I both agree and disagree with Markos Moulitas on this…on the one hand, the demographics simply don’t lie; the state’s lost-past being a majority-Anglo state and could very well one day become a true battleground by 2020 (sooner depending on the next 2 election cycles). On the other hand, there are two roadblocks to Texas changing colors anytime soon: low voter turnout and the virtual absence of a Democratic bench for statewide and national races. Fix those two and Moulitas is dead-on-target with the basic premise of his article. Let either or both slide and the GOP might yet be able to dash Democratic hopes of making Texas a battleground.
