It’s not a very casual occurrence when an American kid, who’s highly-touted as a football player, decides the play soccer over the more popular, and at this point in time, the more monetarily satisfying sport.
However, a report from 247sports.com has detailed that such a instance has transpired, with Drake Davis, a four-star wide receiver recruit from Fork Union, Va., deciding to take his talents to soccer. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound wideout is the No. 10 WR in the country for the Class of 2016, and the No.3 prospect in Virginia. So far, he has offers from Miami, Maryland, Alabama, Florida State, Temple, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Plus, Georgia and Maryland have asked about him.
But he has Division I offers in soccer, and that appears hold a higher significance over these big football programs. Davis could still get on the gridiron, just not in the immediate future.
