CMB Music: Jefferson Starship – “Find Your Way Back”   Leave a comment

The trick in this life isn’t necessarily having to find your way back…it’s making sure you don’t get lost on the way there.

CMB Music: Tarney/Spencer Band – “No Time To Lose”   Leave a comment

This is one of those songs I just absolutely love to hear…its’ lyrics are eloquent in their meaning, while the music adds a beautiful yet subtle haunting tone to it, reminding us that every day we live is a precious day indeed, that we need to hold on and cherish every moment with those closest to us, for we truly never know what can happen from day-to-day.

CMB Weekend Music: Chicago – “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day”   Leave a comment

This could almost be the story of my life the past 3 years…from nearly losing my legs to a combination of severe lymphedema and multiple wounds to the constant dealings with manic depression, its’ been a roller-coaster of life’s travails…but as the song says, “I’m feelin’ stronger every day!”

CMB Music: Neil Young – “Old Man”   1 comment

Spent a good chunk of today going through some old scrapbooks and pictures and I couldn’t help but notice how much I’d grown up like my father had…from the hair, the mannerisms, the style of dress, etc. Only difference between my dad and I was that while we both worked in the public eye, he was a school teacher(hence my undying respect for public education) while I worked as a butcher. It’ll be 18 years this coming May since he passed away and I still miss him very much…I just hope one day people will remember me just as much as they remembered him.

This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I’ve ever listened to….both in terms of the lyrics and the various meanings one can find within the song at all levels, it’s just that kind of tune.

As someone who’s battled depression for years now, take it from me…those voices are real and it’s a struggle sometimes keeping them at bay.
